send me holiday options for Walking & Hiking in Botswana
Guided walks are an unbeatable way to experience the wild first-hand
and are carried out at most safari camps and lodges in the dry season.
Hiking opportunities in Botswana are limited mainly to the Tsodilo
Hills in the north west of the country. The Hills hold huge
spiritual significance for the San (Bushmen) people and hold over
4000 ancient rock paintings.
Several walking circuits in Tsodilo lead hikers past the most renown
and striking rock paintings. The views from the summit of Male Hill
over the expansive, flat Kalahari are well worth the 2 hour climb.
On the Female Hill lies Laurens van der Post's Panel, while the
Cliff Trail takes you past the Origin of Sex site and further on
into a yawning and aura-filled valley. Numerous other possible routes
can also be taken including Rhino Trail and Lion Trail.
Requirements
An average degree of fitness is required as with any hiking, and
in expected warm temperatures, plenty of drinking water should be
carried.
